Barometer Needle Chart
A sailing weather screen, "Saltmarsh Harbour", whose hero is a brass aneroid barometer: an ivory face engraved from 960 to 1060 hPa with Stormy, Rain, Change, Fair and Very Dry, a blued steel needle, a brass set hand left at the last reading and a glass cover that catches the light. Under it a 48-hour pressure chart runs from yesterday's storm to tomorrow's forecast. Scrub the chart and the needle swings to that hour's reading on a real spring while the readout rolls like an odometer and the forecast word and trend roll with it; tap the glass and the needle twitches.
