"Dot Dash — Send your answer": a telegram card with a typed clue and two answer boxes over a green leather desk, a brass register paying out paper tape, and a telegraph key on a walnut base with a black knob, a spring and a silver contact. Press the key and the lever pivots onto the contact with a blue spark, the pen drops onto the running tape and prints a dot, or a dash if you hold; pause and the letter is decoded and rolls up into the next answer box. Two letters bring up "Correct · +40", and the printed tape tears off and falls away to start again.
