Popcorn Pop Button
A movie-night screen, "Reel Night — Friday, 8 pm", whose big round "Start the movie" button is a little copper pan of kernels under a glass lid, ringed by a thermometer arc. Hold it and the pan heats: an orange glow spreads under it, the arc fills gold to red and the kernels jitter, then they pop one by one into puffy corn that bursts with a squash and a spin, bounces into a heap and lifts the lid. Let go once enough have popped and the label rolls to "Enjoy the show"; let go early and the kernels settle as the pan cools, and a moment later the pan tips into the striped bowl on the movie card and fresh kernels drop in.
