Pottery Wheel Shape
A ceramics class screen, "Kiln Club - Throw a vase": a lump of wet terracotta clay turns on an aluminium wheel head inside a splash pan, under a warm studio spotlight, with an out-of-focus shelf of bisque pots behind. Drag on either side of the clay to work it: press the wall in and it narrows at that height and rises, drag up along it and the walls pull taller and thinner, drag down and it squats; throwing marks climb the wet surface as the wheel spins and slip flies off the wall. A pill rolls through the steps (centring, pulling, collaring, flaring) and a card below rolls the height, the widest diameter and the wheel speed.
