Tree Ring Chart
Heartwood, a savings app, shows seven years of saving as the cross-section of a cut tree: each yearly ring is as wide as that year's savings, from a reddish heartwood around the pith to pale sapwood under a fissured bark, with grain, rays and drying cracks. The selected year glows amber, a leader drops from it to a rolling label ("2021 · $6,240" and the change on the year before), and the total rolls above. Drag across the slice from the centre outward and it grows to your finger, ring by ring, selecting the year under it; the year row below scrubs too.
