Postcard Stamp Cancel
A travel journal's day page, "Postmarks — Lisbon, day 4": a cream postcard lies on an indigo linen desk with a handwritten note in italic, an address and a colourful invented stamp of a yellow tram, one corner dog-eared to show the photo on the other side. Pick up the wooden duplex handstamp from its ultramarine ink pad and set it down on the stamp: the date ring "LISBOA · 24 OCT · 26" and five wavy bars print with real hand-stamp unevenness, pale where the hand pressed lightly, pooled dark at the edges, speckled by the paper's tooth, the card gives a little jolt and the trip counter rolls from 12 to 13. Tap the card to turn it over to its photo of Alfama's rooftops.
