Kaleidoscope Twist
A kaleidoscope seen through a brass eyepiece: a fixed bezel and a knurled ring with an engraved index, around a round window. Inside, coloured glass beads (lit, with a caustic and a glint) and bevelled glass shards lie loose in a chamber over a frosted violet diffuser, and mirrors fold one wedge of it into a mandala of 6 to 12 segments, darkening towards the rim. Drag around the window to turn the chamber and the pieces tumble; pinch to change the number of mirror segments, shown in large figures under the eyepiece; tap to drop another bead where the finger is.
