Editorial Menu Morph
A museum's site, "Orsel, Museum of Form", on warm paper: a spaced serif wordmark, a two-line hamburger with a small "Menu" label, a section kicker with a "01 / 05" index, a two-line Iowan Old Style headline (the system serif on Android), a large hero photo with an italic caption and a "Plan a visit" link. Tapping the hamburger crosses its lines and rolls "Menu" to "Close" while a near-black curtain comes down with a soft, bowed leading edge, the page under it sinking, shrinking slightly and darkening, and five large serif words (Exhibitions, Collection, Architecture, Visit, Journal), each with a small italic number and a small count (12, 4,120, 1911, 10–18, Nº 12), rise letter by letter out of clipped baselines over an opening-hours footer. Running a finger down the words dims all but the one under it, which turns italic, steps right and draws a thin rule under itself; a round photo in a thin paper ring floats beside the finger, chasing it with a lag and leaning into its motion, and wipes up to each word's photo (sculptures and spiral staircases) with a band of colour on the wipe's edge, while the menu turns to that word's colour: oxblood, prussian blue, ochre, verdigris, olive. Lifting on a word flies the photo on a spring into the new page's hero, the circle opening into the hero's rectangle as its ring thins away, as the curtain lifts away above the new page; the card becomes the hero and the page's kicker, headline lines and caption write themselves in as the index rolls to the new number.
